  • Meet Anessa

    Our Kids Count

Sixteen years ago, participant and volunteer Anessa Harris attended her first OKC program as a very young mom looking for support. Unfortunately, when the program was over, “life happened,” Anessa recounts. “Getting around on your own without transportation is hard and there wasn’t an OKC site nearby. So I was alone in my house for years desperately hoping that someone would acknowledge that we needed a program for parents with school age children. When I heard that OKC had started a program – the Every Parent Group – I just couldn’t pass it up.”

    Our Kids Count

Have you ever been part of an organization that intuitively seemed to know what you and your family needed? For many families in Thunder Bay, that group is Our Kids Count (OKC), a charitable, community development organization that always puts participants fi rst. Recognizing that OKC’s community-centred approach mirrors its own view of building neighbourhoods, Tbaytel has been on-board from the start supporting initiatives that bring residents and their needs to the table. Like Bill Csori, who has played many roles at OKC – dad, participant, volunteer, and advisor.
